Why do we use this tool?

This tool is an indicative assistance for the authorities to take next line of action. It also reduces the workload of the health workforce. It enables quicker detection, therefore allowing for higher throughput. Additionally, the tool enhances diagnostic infrastructure in resource constrained settings and helps alleviate the burdens related to pathology tests.

How will this tool help?

Suspected COVID-19 patients are undergoing Chest X-ray scans. This puts a tremendous amount of workload on radiologists as it becomes critical for them to report these CXRs urgently. Our tool, provides significant value in such a scenario and thus reduces the burden on radiologists.

How X-ray can be scanned if it is generated in basic machine?

Using any Mobile or Camera, take a picture of the X-ray and upload it into the system.

Do I have to install this on my PC?

No installation is required. We developed a web-based solution which can be accessed on any PC or laptop having internet connection.

Is DiCom format supported?

Yes, this tool supports both DiCom and JPG format.

Is this tool certified by any Government body?

No, this tool has been developed to help handle the current pandemic, and the necessary certifications are being processed.

Can I use this tool for detecting any other disease?

At the moment, this tool will only detect Corona infection, and not any other disease. However, we are also exploring detection of other diseases as well.

What kind of Corona infection will this tool detect?

The tool will detect infection following the various types of opacity: Peripheral Patchy Opacity, Ground Glass Opacity, Lower Zone Opacity, Consolidation, Perihilar Consolidation.

What if the patient does not have symptoms like cold or cough?

The tool detects infection based of a Chest X-ray, so showing or not showing any symptoms is irrelevant.

How are Chest X-rays useful in detecting COVID infection?

Chest X-rays have emerged as the frontline screening and diagnostic tool for COVID-19 infection and are used in conjunction with clinical history. Ground glass opacities and consolidations which are peripheral and bilateral in nature are attributed to be the most common findings with respect to COVID related infections on CXRs. CXRs can help in identifying COVID-19 related infections and can be used as a triage tool in most cases.

What is the Sensitivity, Specificity, Positive and Negative predictive value of this Test?

Sensitivity is 0.95, Specificity is .76, Positive Predictive Value is .760, Negative Predictive Value is .95

What kind of X-ray works best for detecting COVID-19?

An X-ray of the Frontal Part works the best for detecting COVID-19.

What are the specifics of uploading an X-ray on this tool?

An X-ray can be uploaded through a mobile, laptop or PC. It should be in JPG or Dicom format. While uploading the X-ray, make sure that there are no fingerprints or any other markings on it. X-ray file resolution must be minimum 512*512 pixels, less than 5MB.

What is the difference between a positive and negative suspect on the tool?

A positive test result will display the Confidence Score percentage which indicates how likely the person is to be a COVID-19 positive suspect. It also shows the X-ray in heat map, focusing on the chest area’s that have been highly affected.
